For this project you will do the following:
- Choose an explorer you would like to research.
- Use a variety of resources to find out about your explorer:
- Your explorer's name, birthdate (if available), birthplace, death date (if available)
- The country your explorer sailed for.
- Why your explorer sailed - his mission.
- The successes and failures of your explorer.
- Why your explorer is important - what he contributed to history.
- Use the information you gathered to create a PowerPoint or Prezi (see the rubric for the
requirement of this assignment).

2. Information Seeking Strategies: What sources will you use? Are these good, reliable sources?
You will look at the list of available resources located in the tabs above to help you find resources you can use for your project.
If you decide to use other resources, be sure that they are reliable sources and have accurate information.
3. Location and Access: Locate information sources and then find information within the sources.
Once you have decided which resources you will use for your project, explore each.
4. Use of Information: After viewing the information, what pieces will you use to complete your assignment?
Record the information you have found in your journal, with an organizer that you like to use, or the provided organizer.

*** Do not forget to include information about your sources as you will need to create a citation for each on your works cited page. We will be using the MLA format. ***
Many databases will create the citation for you.

5. Synthesis: How will you organize and present the information you gathered?
You will use the information you have gathered to create PowerPoint or Prezi that includes the following:

- The country your explorer sailed for.
- Why your explorer sailed - his mission.
- The successes and failures of your explorer.
- Why your explorer is important - what he contributed to history.
6. Evaluation: Evaluate your work to decide if you feel that the final product was effective and whether or not you feel the research process helped you to complete your project in a timely manner.
You will will complete the evaluation form and turn it in with your final project..
